Phyllis Radu
-
Phyllis Radu, grade school teacher at Spokane Countryside Adventist School in Washington State, is also an accomplished singer. At age fifteen, she began voice lessons with Marilyn Cotton. For the next eight years, she continued with Cotton while also studying with Joanne Robbins and Moses Chalmers, teachers at La Sierra College, now La Sierra University, and with William Carey II.
Beginning in academy and continuing in college, Radu was a member of select choral groups as well as a singer in the LSC college choir and oratorio chorus. In her junior year at LSC, she was the soprano soloist in the college's presentation of Handel's Messiah.
A soloist in numerous churches on the West Coast and in Michigan in her early years, Radu recorded an album for Chapel Records in 1987. This led to singing opportunities throughout the United States and an invitation to sing fifteen songs for the Three Angels Broadcast Network. 3ABN used eight of these as part of their Christmas Special for that season.
In 2003, she enrolled at Walla Walla College, now Walla Walla University, to complete a degree in elementary education and a minor in music. While at WWC, she studied voice with Christine Janis in the department of music, completing her degree in 2005.
