Judith Gebhardt Schoepflin


Judith Schoepflin is associate professor of music and director of piano studies at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. While at Whitworth, she developed a piano pedagogy program which is state and nationally certified. A popular and effective teacher, she maintains a large studio. Schoepflin also directs Whitworth's annual concert series featuring women composers, The Untapped Source: Music by Women Composers.

An active solo and chamber music performer, she has made numerous appearances throughout the U.S. and Canada. As a member of the Muhlfeld Trio, she performed to critical acclaim in Europe, Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Born in Bremerton, Washington, Schoepflin studied in Seattle with Victor Smiley. In 1966, she began her career teaching at Southern Adventist University, where she taught for three years. She completed a doctorate in piano performance at North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas, in 1972, where she studied with Richard Cass and Joseph Banowetz.
