Ivan Mallernee

Ivan Mallernee, a trombonist, was band director at four schools from 1969 to 1992. A 1969 B.A. music graduate from Pacific Union College, Mallernee started his career at Mile High Academy in Denver, Colorado, where he taught for six years. During this time he completed an M.A. in music at Andrews University in 1973. He took a course in instrument repair at Ithaca College, continued his study in trombone at Stanford University, and studied conducting at the University of Northern Colorado.
Following four years at Forest Lake Academy in Florida, 1975 to 1979, where he also chaired the department, he returned to Angwin, California, to teach for a year at Pacific Union College Preparatory School. He then taught instruments, directed the band, and chaired the department at Monterey Bay Academy from 1980 to 1992. While there, he conducted the Monterey Brass Heralds.
He did research and was a sales representative at Advanced Instruments Company for seven years, and, in 1999, became assistant manager at the Soquel Conference Center in Soquel, California.
