Grace Adelaide Buck Kirk

1902 - 1998

 

Grace Kirk was a singer who taught piano, led choirs for in Adventist schools and Methodist churches, occasionally played piano in Catholic churches, and coached and sponsored vocal groups who came to her for assistance. A graduate of Union College, she completed a second degree in vocal music at Emmanuel Missionary College (now Andrews University) in 1932.

In the late 1940's she started teaching piano and eventually had a studio of over 40 students. She taught at several academies, including Cedar Lake Academy, now Great Lakes Academy, in Michigan, Oak Park Academy in Nevada, Iowa, and Platte Valley Academy in Nebraska, where she also served as girls' dean. She married Otho Kirk in Cedar Lake, Michigan.

Her daughter, Elaine Kirk Badiere, is a violinist who attended Atlantic Union College and graduated from AU in 1962. Kirk was born in Pennsylvania and spent most of her life in the midwest.
