Fredrick (Fred) Lyndon Lorenz
 
1931 - 2019
 
Fred Lorenz, music teacher in several Seventh-day Adventist schools, was born on September 22, 1931, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the youngest of four children and the only son of Fred and Mary Lorenz. The family moved to northern Colorado when he was in eighth grade where they established a ranch.
 
He attended Campion Academy in Loveland, Colorado, and, following graduation in 1948, attended Union College where he completed a music degree in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and following an honorable discharge in 1954, began teaching at Sheyenne River Academy in North Dakota. While there he dated Beverly Reese, another teacher who had also started teaching at the beginning of that school year, and they married on August 22, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They would have two sons, Lyndon Bruce and William Dean.
 
They taught in several Seventh-Adventist schools before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1973, where they both taught in College View Academy until they retired. He continued to work and volunteer in retirement.
 
Fred was active physically as a bicyclist, hiker, runner, and mountain climber.  He ran many marathons including the Boston Marathon. He loved to be with his family, and they loved him as well.
 
The Lorenz’s were living in Lincoln, Nebraska, when Fred died on June 7, 2019, at age 87. He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly,and their two sons, and five grandchildren.
