Eurydice Osterman
Eurydice Osterman is a Professor of Music at Oakwood College where she has taught since 1978. A pianist, organist, and composer, during her time at OC, she has served as chair (1994-96), conducted the choir (14 years), and is the primary theory teacher. An award-winning composer, she completed a DMA in Composition/Theory at the University of Alabama.
Osterman has published a book, What God Says About Music, written articles for IAMA publications, and has served on the GC Music Committee. She is a frequent guest lecturer and has lectured on four continents. She has received many awards: Outstanding Teacher Award, OC, 1983; Huntsville Jaycees nomination: Outstanding Young Educator, 1983 and 1984; Zapara Excellence in Teaching Award, 1990; Outstanding Young Women of America Award, 1993; Commendation Award for Meritorious Service, OC, 1993; and many composition awards.
She has served on many faculty and administrative committees while at OC. Off-campus activities have included conducting numerous music festivals and clinics, presenting concerts, and adjudicating. She has also served as Dean of the Huntsville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
Osterman completed B.Mus. and M.Mus. degrees at Andrews University. Before going to OC she taught at Berean SDA School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and at Mt. Vernon Academy in Ohio (1972-1976).
