Earl Raney

 

Earl Raney, adjunct professor at Atlantic Union College and conductor of its band, the Atlantic Wind Symphony, is well known as the Artistic Director and solo trumpet of the award-winning Epic Brass Quintet. Since founding the Epic Brass in 1983, he has given over 1400 performances in 46 states, with appearances at notable venues such as the Kennedy Center, Weill Recital Hall, and Carnegie Hall. Raney has also concertized internationally, touring in Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Far East. The EPQ has recorded eight compact discs for the Ars Nova Digital record label.

In addition to his chamber music career, he has performed in several New England area orchestras and served as principal trumpet of the Taipei Festival Orchestra in Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. Raney is also an Assistant Professor of Music in Performance at Wheaton College, where he is Music Director/Conductor of the Southeastern Massachusetts Wind Symphony and Great Woods Chamber Orchestra. On a personal note, he considers his greatest accomplishment to be that of conducting the Raney Family Band starring Daniel, Katie, and his wife, Barb.
