A first tenor with the Heralds, later the King's Heralds Quartet, Don Scroggs was born in South Bend, Indiana. He majored in music at Andrews University and at Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas. While a student in Texas, Scroggs was a first-place winner in the annual Texas Voice Teachers singing competition. He joined the quartet in 1983.
