Barbara Bell Childs Knox
1864 - 1950
Barbara Knox was a pioneer music teacher the Seventh-day Adventist Parochial school system who taught music harmony at Washington Missionary College, now Columbia Union College, during the 1914-1915 school year. She assisted Clemen Hamer, who was head of the music program from 1908 to 1917. Knox had married Walter T. Knox at age 21 and was likely teaching at WMC because of his role as treasurer of the General Conference, which was located at that time in the Washington, D.C., area.
