Amy Crabtree
Amy Crabtree directed the
band at Union College from 2000-2003, the first woman to lead the ensemble. A
1996 graduate of Columbia Union College, she had attended UC from 1992 to 1995.
She then taught at Sunnydale Academy in Missouri from 1997 to 1998, leaving at
the end of the school year to attend Northern Illinois University for graduate
study.
Crabtree completed an M.Mus. in horn performance at NIU in 2000, with emphases in
conducting and theory. While at NIU, she was principal horn with both the NIU
Wind Ensemble and Philharmonic and the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra. She
also guest conducted the Wind Ensemble, assisted in the theory and aural skills
program, and taught music appreciation. Crabtree was elected to the Phi Kappa
Lambda music honor society while at NIU.
