Alessandra Samadello

Alessandra Samadello, an award winning Brazilian singer of contemporary Christian music, has recorded eighteen CDs, one of which has sold a million copies. A frequent singer on regional and national television in her country and more recently in other countries, her voice and style have been compared to that of Sandi Patti, a popular singer in the U.S.
Alessandra, a Seventh-day Adventist, was born in Santo André, Brazil. She started singing at age sixteen as a member of Prisma Brazil. She then worked with Ariney Oliveira, a composer, arranger, and producer in creating a musical, Open Arms, which was presented in 1991. They selected ten songs from the musical's 25 and released them as a CD bearing the name of the musical. The first of her solo albums, it was immensely popularity and sold a million copies.
Alessandra and Ariney married at the end of 1992. They then came to the U.S. where he pursued graduate study in choral music at Indiana University and she eventually started study towards a BA in voice. Following completion of his studies, they returned to Brazil. For CDs released since their return, Ariney has written most of the music and lyrics, although some of the lyrics have been written by Alessandra.
While they have released several CDs since 1995, they feel certain are of special interest because of the effect they have had on their musical ministry. Love is the Answer, originally released in 1996 in Portuguese, was released in Spanish in 2000 as Love is the Response (Amor Es La Respuesta). This led to invitations that have taken them throughout Latin America and to Europe. Another CD, My Life, was also released in another language, this time in English as My Refuge, in 2003. The original CD was well received in major cities in Brazil and the English version has led to invitations for concerts in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
